Welcome to the first AUDIO for the web newsletter. After two very busy years in business, we wanted to find a way of keeping in touch with the friends and associates we've met along the way. The idea is to keep this newsletter brief and very occasional, but if you'd like to unsubscribe, please use the link at the bottom of this page.
It was a hectic but exciting summer, which saw me heading to Las Vegas to speak at the largest podcasting event in the world, the New Media Expo. I also spent time at a number of fascinating events, which I captured for podcasts. More on these and some other commissions on this page.

New Media Expo 2008
I was delighted to be invited to speak at the fourth annual New Media Expo in Las Vegas, the largest podcasting convention in the world. I was one of only 50 people asked to present at the three-day event, selected from over 700 submissions. My topic was Writing for the Ear - How and When to Write a Podcast Script.
The conference was an excellent opportunity to catch up on the latest in the world of podcasting, including equipment, software, monetization and tracking methods.
Event podcasts
We often get asked about the best way to podcast events. It all depends on what kind of event it is and who the podcast is for. You can hear three different ways of doing it by following the links below.
NHS Conference on Health Inequalities
I recently produced a presenter-led highlights podcast after attending a conference on health inequalities, hosted by NHS Primary Care Contracting and the Department of Health. This is a radio-style report, which suited the audience and the topic.
In September, we were commissioned by the Research Information Network to create a summary podcast from a day-long event about the potential of the Freedom of Information Act for researchers. We picked an 'as live' presentation style to bring this topic to life.
Merrill Lynch Global Investing Programme, with NPC
I was asked by New Philanthropy Capital to cover a seminar on philanthropy they were running for Merrill Lynch, for young adults whose parents were Merrill Lynch clients. I created a five-minute podcast that captured how the participants' attitudes changed throughout the day.
Training
The appetite for learning how to podcast shows no sign of abating. Here's some of the recent training I have designed and led:
Podcasting taster for teenagers
National Maritime Museum as part of Greenwich Summer University
Day-long podcasting workshop
E-Learning Group for Museums, Libraries and Archives
Introduction to podcasting
Bishopsgate Institute
Digital recording and editing
Friends of Arnold Circus
Other projects
I've continued to produce three podcasts a month for the Internet's most visited career development website, Mind Tools. Recent highlights include original interviews with mentoring expert Ellen Ensher and with Professor Andrew Crane, a global authority on corporate social responsibility.
We developed and produced the first Talent Talk podcast for Hire Strategies Ltd., which advises on using social networking for talent management.
I've been working with the Mental Health Foundation, revamping some relaxation podcasts I originally made for Developing Patient Partnerships.
We attended the Larmer Tree Festival in Dorset and made two enhanced podcasts for marketing purposes. Watch one of these now.
Scriptwriting and editing work includes scripts for book review and travel guide podcasts.
